What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crushing Utility Person position at Crooker Construction?
Crooker Construction is looking for a safety conscious candidate to join the team as a Crushing Utility Person. The position will be based in Topsham but may travel to our other pit and quarry operations.
The position will be responsible for performing a variety of labor, maintenance, and operational duties throughout the crushing facility to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous production of quality aggregate products. Most of the work will be done independently, but there may be times when this position will be required to work as a team to complete larger and more complex repairs and maintenance projects.
Having a CDL is preferred. The positions are full-time, year-round roles. The budget base pay for this position ranges from $18.00 to $21.00 and will vary depending on how well an applicant's skills and experience align with the job description.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of crushing, screening, conveying, and stockpiling equipment.
- Perform routine housekeeping throughout the facility, including shoveling, sweeping, cleaning spillage, and maintaining work areas.
- Monitor conveyors, crushers, screens, feeders, and other plant equipment for proper operation and report abnormalities.
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, including replacing wear parts, changing screens, belts, rollers, and other plant components.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, cutting torches, and other maintenance equipment as authorized.
- Safely operate skid steer, loader, or other equipment.
- Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and production records as required.
- Follow production schedules while minimizing downtime and material waste
- Participate in repairs during scheduled outages and seasonal maintenance projects.
- Ensure MSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Troubleshooting equipment maintenance problems to properly diagnose components to determine the method and extent of repair necessary.
- Assist with disassembly and reassembly of equipment and parts for repair and maintenance needs.
