Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) and applying fluoride treatments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic protocols.
- Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and sterilizing instruments effectively.
- Collaborate with dentists and other team members using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow.
- Review documentation, medical coding, and treatment plans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting and record management.
- Experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and work seamlessly within a team.
