Critter Sitter of VA is hiring dependable, energetic animal lovers for part-time dog walking and in-home pet care.

If you enjoy being outdoors, staying active, working independently, and spending your day with animals, this could be a great fit.

You’ll travel between clients’ homes throughout Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George, caring for pets where they’re most comfortable: at home.

This is professional pet care with real responsibility, paid training, team support, and the opportunity to build a consistent part-time schedule.

What You’ll Do

Depending on the household, you may:

• Walk dogs or provide supervised outdoor time
• Feed pets and refresh water
• Provide playtime, companionship, and enrichment
• Scoop litter boxes and clean pet areas
• Care for dogs, cats, birds, small animals, reptiles, aquatic pets, and mixed-pet households
• Administer approved medications
• Monitor pets for changes in health, behavior, or safety
• Complete approved basic home-care tasks
• Send clients detailed visit journals with photos
• Carefully secure pets and clients’ homes

Every visit requires careful attention to pet safety, home security, client instructions, communication, and confidentiality.

Current Availability Needs

Critter Sitter of VA provides services 7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., 365 days a year.

We are currently hiring for:

• Mornings: 7:00-11:00 a.m.
• Afternoons: 2:00-6:00 p.m.
• Evenings: 5:00-9:00 p.m.
• Weekends

Applicants must consistently provide at least four availability blocks per week.

Schedules are based on committed availability, client demand, service location, performance, and seasonal needs. Providing availability does not guarantee a minimum number of scheduled hours.

Candidates with broader availability may receive preference for assignments.

Holiday availability and a minimum one-year commitment are required. This is not a seasonal position or casual gig work.

Before You Apply

This is an active, mobile position performed in clients’ homes throughout our service area.

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Pass a national criminal background check
• Live in or near our service area
• Have a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
• Have a reliable, economical vehicle
• Have a modern smartphone capable of running our professional scheduling app
• Be comfortable caring for cats and handling dogs of different sizes
• Communicate clearly in written and spoken English
• Be punctual, organized, responsive, and detail-oriented
• Be comfortable working independently in clients’ homes
• Be comfortable driving between multiple appointments
• Be willing to walk and work outdoors in all weather and throughout all seasons
• Be able to walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, crouch, and remain active throughout a shift
• Be able to lift or assist with approximately 50 pounds when necessary

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys driving, changing daily routes, outdoor work, a fast-paced environment, and independently managing their schedule.
