STG Investigator Job description
Title: STG Investigator
Location: Remote Swamp-Based Facility, Florida
Deployment: 8 Weeks Onsite | 2 Weeks Off | Housing Meals Provided
The STG (Security Threat Group) Investigator is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating security threat group activity within a secure facility or operational environment. This role supports institutional safety, intelligence gathering, and threat prevention through proactive investigation, documentation, and coordination with internal leadership and external law enforcement partners.
This is a boots-on-the-ground, operational role, requiring strong investigative skills, discretion, and the ability to operate in high-risk, fast-paced environments while maintaining strict compliance with policy, contractual obligations, and applicable laws.
Your Mission
STG Identification & Intelligence
- Identify and track known or suspected Security Threat Groups through intelligence collection, observation, interviews, and record review.
- Maintain up-to-date intelligence files, databases, and documentation related to STG activity.
- Analyze behavioral patterns, affiliations, communications, and symbols associated with STGs.
- Monitor emerging threats and trends that may impact facility safety or operations.
Investigations & Case Management
- Conduct formal and informal investigations into STG-related incidents, contraband activity, assaults, or coordinated disruptions.
- Interview staff, detainees/inmates, and relevant parties while maintaining professional objectivity and confidentiality.
- Prepare clear, detailed investigative reports, summaries, and briefings for leadership and compliance review.
- Preserve evidence and ensure proper chain-of-custody procedures are followed.
Facility Safety & Risk Mitigation
- Support facility leadership in developing strategies to disrupt STG influence and activity.
- Recommend classification changes, housing adjustments, or operational controls based on investigative findings.
- Assist with searches, audits, and intelligence-led operations when required.
- Participate in emergency response or critical incidents involving STG activity.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Coordinate with facility command staff, intelligence units, compliance officers, and external law enforcement agencies as authorized.
- Ensure all investigative actions comply with contractual requirements, detention standards, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to security and intelligence operations.
Requirements
- Must be a State-Certified Corrections Officer verifiable with state licensing board
- Prior experience in corrections, law enforcement, military intelligence, investigations, or security operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Security Threat Groups, gang dynamics, and intelligence-gathering methodologies.
- Strong report writing, documentation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
- Comfortable operating in high-security, structured, and austere environments.
- Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Prior experience in detention, jail, or corrections settings
- Previous experience as an STG Investigator, Intelligence Officer, or similar role.
- Training or certification in gang identification, intelligence analysis, or criminal investigations.
- Ability to work 12–14 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Physically and mentally fit for duty in an operational environment
- Strong communication skills and command presence
- Must pass background screening and drug test
· Must complete and pass all portions of CRS's Federal Detention Officer Certification Program (FDOCP). This is a structured training course designed to ensure all prospective officers possess the physical capability, mental discipline, and professional mindset necessary to perform the essential duties of a Federal Detention Officer. All trainees must complete every physical and cognitive training requirement to remain in good standing within the Federal Detention Officer Certification Program.
Failure to complete any portion of the program—academic, physical, or tactical—will result in non-certification and may result in termination or removal from employment consideration.
Requirements include:
o Physical Fitness Standards including but not limited to:
- Calisthenics
- Jogging, running and/or walking exercises
- Bending, Kneeling and controlled ground movements
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds
- Completion of the Physical Abilities Course within the established time and safety parameters
o Defense Tactics and Standards
- This portion focuses on personal protection, controlled subject management, and approved response techniques to ensure the safety of both staff and detainees
Cognitive & Mindset Standards
- Federal Detention Officers must possess a disciplined, alert, and professional mindset, capable of making sound decisions under pressure. Applicants are evaluated throughout the program on the following cognitive and behavioral criteria:

- Ethical reasoning and adherence to federal detention standards
- Professional communication and teamwork
- Adaptability and calmness during simulated crisis scenarios
- Ability to learn and apply policy, safety protocols, and operational directives
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all scholastic portions of the Federal Detention Officer Program. Evaluation will be based on classroom participation, written assessments, and demonstrated understanding during on-the-job observation.
