Position Title: Sub Bus Driver

Reports To:Transportation Director

Primary Function

Provides for the safe operation of the assigned bus and control of the passengers while transporting to and from their assigned education center or school-related function.

Requirements

Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED.

Certification/Licensing: CDL driver’s license.

Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, supervisory skills, ability to deal with multiple tasks, and interpersonal skills.

Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.

Salary: $19.16/hr. (If you have worked driving a bus full time before with a CDL license, please talk to the Director about Full Time work and apply at job id 685. Salary for Full Time Bus Drivers is $23-45-$26.70.

• Drives bus over designated route according to time schedule when transporting students to and from school.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of bus as required by department regulations.
• Fuels the assigned bus as needed.
• Delivers bus to fleet maintenance shop as directed by pre-arranged monthly schedule.
• Submits all reports in a timely manner as required by the Department of Transportation.
• Attends all bus driver safety meetings and bus driver training sessions.
• Operates school bus in accordance with the laws of Georgia and in accordance with the policies prescribed by the Crisp County School District under all types of weather conditions including, but not limited to sun, fog, rain, sleet, hail, snow and ice.
• Abides by procedures and policies regarding the safe and orderly operation of the bus including pick up and drop off procedures and loading and unloading procedures.
• Maintains a clean bus (inside and out) as prescribed by local system transportation policies.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills as required.
• Reports delays or accidents to the transportation supervisor in a timely manner.
  
  

Maintains student discipline on the bus and refers serious infractions to appropriate administrator.

• Ensures that transported students observe all regulations prescribed by law and by State and local Boards.
• Demonstrates loyalty to the school system and administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
• Permits students to leave the bus only at a regular stop except upon written request of parents and approval of the principal or at the direction of the principal.
• Instructs student on safe riding practices, emergency evacuation and other regulations.
