Title: Substitute Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Director
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must provide a seven-year motor vehicle report. Major traffic citations may exclude consideration. Minor traffic citations such as parking tickets are not considered. Must pass a pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Must pass a pre-employment and annual physical exam (as a minimum the applicant shall have no mental, nervous, organic or condition that would interfere with safe driving; applicant shall have no loss of foot or hand; vision and hearing shall meet the Ga. Dept. of Education Physical Examination Form, DE Form 051.
Provide safe, courteous, and timely bus transportation between home and school for Calhoun County School District’s students.
Essential Functions:

- Drive buses and transport students to and from school and co-curricular activities.
- Complete the School Bus driver training program prescribed by State and Local policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and its special equipment.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required by the Local school system.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with school staff and the public.
- Complete legible and accurate required reports in the prescribed manner on a timely basis.
- Provide maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading and unloading.
- Maintain orderly conduct of student passengers.
- Maintain routes and schedules planned by the School System personnel.
- Attend all In-service Safety meetings required by the State and Local School system.
- Keep the assigned bus clean.
- Dependability, punctuality and attendance are essential for your daily bus driver responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Permits:
Applicants must have a Valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger & School Bus (P&S) endorsements.
