Campus Advocate (Part-Time) - Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence

CRISIS SERVICES
Buffalo, NY Part Time
POSTED ON 4/13/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/8/2026

If you believe survivors deserve to be heard, supported, and empowered—and you want to do work that truly makes a difference—this role may be for you.

As a Part-Time Campus Advocate, you’ll provide compassionate, survivor-centered advocacy to students and campus community members impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. You’ll be embedded on local college campuses while also working alongside community partners, law enforcement, and healthcare systems to ensure survivors are never navigating these experiences alone.

This is meaningful, hands-on work in a mission-driven organization committed to dignity, equity, and trauma-informed care.

Who We Are:

Crisis Services is a 24-hour comprehensive crisis center and community resource whose first responders save lives by restoring safety, promoting emotional strength, and reducing the impact of trauma through intervention, education, prevention, and community collaboration.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay including regular annual increases
  • Paid training and professional development opportunities
  • CWA Local 1122 union membership
  • Generous paid time off and paid meal breaks
  • Employee self-care and wellness supports including Calm app subscription for all employees and their family members
  • Quiet Room, Exercise Room and Lactation Room onsite
  • Great health insurance coverage w/generous employer premium contribution
  • $300/year Flexible Spending Account provided by agency
  • Access to dental, vision and other ancillary insurance coverage options
  • 403(b) plan w/employer match after one year of service
  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness program

About this Opportunity:

The Advocate Department of Crisis Services is Erie County’s designated Rape Crisis Center and a licensed Non-Residential Domestic Violence Service Provider in New York State. The Department provides comprehensive victim services to individuals who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, family violence and/or elder abuse.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and follow-up support to survivors on campus and in the community
  • Offer case management services that promote safety, independence, and connection to resources
  • Respond to on-site crisis calls at campuses, police precincts, district attorney offices, and hospitals
  • Support survivors through criminal justice and campus conduct processes, when desired
  • Conduct outreach, education, and prevention trainings for students, staff, and community groups
  • Collaborate with campus partners, community agencies, and internal teams
  • Participate in scheduled on-call shifts, including hospital response advocacy
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards

What You Bring:

We’re seeking someone who brings both skill and heart to this work.

You’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in human services, social work, public health, education, or a related field
  • At least 6 months–1 year of relevant experience in sexual/domestic violence advocacy, crisis response, prevention, or related direct services
  • Comfort with public speaking, training, and outreach
  • Knowledge of sexual and domestic violence dynamics, trauma-informed care, and survivor empowerment
  • Familiarity with Title IX and NYS Enough Is Enough legislation (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong judgment, empathy, discretion, and ability to work independently
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience working in higher education settings
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills

Who You Are:

  • You believe survivors deserve choice, dignity, and trauma-informed support at every step
  • You’re comfortable providing calm, compassionate crisis intervention in emotionally charged situations
  • You enjoy working on campus and in the community, not behind a desk all day
  • You can balance empathy with strong professional boundaries
  • You’re confident collaborating with law enforcement, campus partners, healthcare providers, and community agencies
  • You’re comfortable speaking to groups and providing education or prevention trainings
  • You’re organized and able to manage documentation, follow-ups, and multiple cases
  • You can work independently but value being part of a mission-driven team
  • You’re open to on-call responsibilities, including hospital response advocacy
  • You want your work to have real, immediate impact on people’s lives

Job Type:
