Teacher of the Hearing Impaired (Full Time or Part Time)

Are you passionate about impacting the lives of deaf and hard of hearing students? We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Hearing Impaired to join our team to provide exceptional educational services to CREST students and school districts. Job Responsibilities: Direct Services and Consultation: Deliver educational services to deaf and hard of hearing students and provide consultation to school districts and educational teams. Assessments and Reports: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students’ needs and document progress. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for services in students’ Individualized Education Plans or 504 Plans. Support and Communication: Offer guidance and support to families, educators, and the community through various channels. Develop and maintain professional relationships to foster collaboration. Travel: Required to extend your expertise and services to schools and students in different locations. Stakeholder Presentations: Deliver engaging and informative presentations to various stakeholders, raising awareness and promoting understanding of deaf education and best practices. Adaptability: Accept additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Director of Programs and District Services Coordinator, contributing to the overall growth and success of the organization. Physical Requirements Mobility and Movement Standing, Walking, Sitting: Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for prolonged periods. Reaching and Lifting: Ability to reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally to access and arrange teaching materials, whiteboards, or bulletin boards. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Ability to push and pull objects as needed. Bending and Kneeling: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit on the floor frequently to assist with students, staff, or manage behavior. Repetitive Motion: Use of hands and fingers for computer work, etc. Sensory Requirements Visual Acuity: Specific vision abilities required include vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing Acuity: Ability to hear and understand spoken directions at a conversational level, as well as the ability to distinguish and interpret sounds in a noisy environment. Speaking/Verbal Communication: Ability to clearly articulate verbal information to students, parents, colleagues, community members, and districts. Stamina and Duration Sustained Energy: Ability to maintain a high level of energy and mental alertness throughout the entire school day, managing the physical and mental demands of the role. Safety and Emergency Management Quick Response: Ability to physically respond quickly to emergencies, safety concerns, or unexpected physical demands (e.g., intervening in student behaviors, assisting an injured student/staff, or performing emergency evacuation procedures).
