Survey Crew Chief Crescent Moon Land Surveying, Inc. is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team. We are a professional land surveying company serving residential and commercial projects throughout the Carolinas. We are looking for a strong field leader who can take full ownership of jobs, operate independently, and deliver accurate, high-quality work with minimal supervision.
The Survey Crew Chief will lead field survey operations and manage a small crew (typically 1–2 field helpers depending on the job). This role is responsible for running the job in the field from start to finish and serving as the main field decision-maker.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a survey field crew (1–2 helpers)
- Perform boundary, topographic, construction staking, as-built, and residential surveys
- Operate GPS, robotic total stations, levels, and data collectors
- Ensure accurate field data collection and proper documentation
- Read and interpret plats, deeds, and construction plans
- Communicate with project managers, contractors, and office staff
- Maintain company equipment and assigned vehicle
- Work safely and follow company standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of land surveying field experience required
- Previous Crew Chief or lead field experience preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of field survey procedures and construction staking
- Experience with GPS and robotic total station equipment
- Ability to read survey documents and construction plans
- Valid driver’s license required (clean driving record preferred)
