Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and document all medication administration in medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any abnormalities promptly
- Support residents with specialized needs such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and tube feeding procedures
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical documentation securely
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure effective patient care and update medical records with relevant observations
- Follow safety protocols for catheter care, medication administration, and other clinical procedures while demonstrating physiology and anatomy knowledge
- Engage with residents respectfully to promote a positive environment that enhances their quality of life
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic nursing skills such as catheter care and tube feeding
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is a plus; willingness to learn new medical documentation platforms
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure privacy and security of patient information
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, compassion, and strong communication abilities
- Physiology and anatomy knowledge relevant to senior care and acute care settings
