We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Transportation Coordinator to oversee the safe and efficient transportation services at a 58-bed rest home. This part-time role, totaling 25 hours per week, is vital in ensuring residents and staff are transported reliably and comfortably. Duties
- Coordinate daily transportation schedules for residents, staff, and visitors, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs.
- Operate various types of vehicles including shuttle vans, buses, limousines, or other commercial vehicles, adhering strictly to safety regulations.
- Assist residents with boarding and disembarking, providing compassionate customer service and ensuring comfort during transit.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly to maintain safety standards.
- Handle logistics for special transportation needs such as medical appointments or community outings with attention to detail.
- Manage communication with residents, families, staff, and external vendors to confirm schedules and address any transportation concerns.
- Assist with heavy lifting when loading or unloading mobility aids or luggage, ensuring safety for both passengers and staff.
Experience
- Prior experience in shuttle driving, delivery driving, bus driving, or limousine service is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in commercial driving or paratransit services with a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type.
- Experience in customer service roles that require clear communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance routines and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with heavy lifting procedures related to mobility aids or luggage handling is a plus.
