Job Description
The client is seeking an experienced Application Architect to design, develop, and modernize enterprise applications using Microsoft technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in .NET, SQL Server, enterprise application architecture, legacy modernization, secure application development, and enterprise integration. This role will provide technical leadership, establish architecture standards, and support application modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and SQL Server.
- Develop enterprise solution architectures across applications, APIs, databases, and integration platforms.
- Design and optimize SQL Server databases, including complex T-SQL, indexing strategies, execution plans, partitioning, Query Store tuning, and Always On Availability Groups.
- Develop integration solutions using REST APIs, authentication, messaging, and data exchange between Microsoft, IBM, and third-party systems.
- Support GitHub Copilot adoption for .NET development, including configuration, prompt development, code refactoring, documentation, testing, and code reviews.
- Produce architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and lead architecture and design review sessions.
- Establish application architecture standards, coding standards, reusable design patterns, and development best practices.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, PII protection, and Zero Trust security principles.
- Lead application modernization efforts by migrating legacy applications to modern cloud-native architectures.
- Develop modernization roadmaps, evaluate technical debt, and recommend phased migration strategies.
- Design and implement source control strategies, branching models, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, environment management, and DevSecOps practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide technical recommendations aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Provide technical leadership during project planning, solution design, proof of concepts, and estimation activities.
- Mentor development teams on architecture, design patterns, and development best practices.
Required Skills
- 8 years of software engineering experience.
- 4 years of experience as an Application or Solution Architect on enterprise .NET and SQL Server projects.
- Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, Web API, Dependency Injection, Minimal APIs, Clean Architecture, and asynchronous programming.
- Advanced SQL Server experience with complex T-SQL, execution plan analysis, indexing, Row-Level Security (RLS), Dynamic Data Masking (DDM), and Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot for .NET/C# development.
- Experience converting data from legacy systems into modern application data models.
- Experience with secure SDLC, Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, API security, and enterprise governance.
- Experience in public sector, utility, or other regulated environments.
- Experience with application modernization and IBM FileNet/Business Automation Workflow (BAW).
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
