Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Front Desk Scheduler to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves managing patient appointments, coordinating schedules, and providing exceptional administrative support within a busy medical or dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Bilingual proficiency is a plus, as is previous clinic or medical office experience. Duties
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or other EHR platforms
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries
- Review and update medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating documentation
- Coordinate with clinical staff to optimize appointment flow and reduce wait times
- Handle billing tasks related to medical collection processes and CPT coding when necessary
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and documentation review for accuracy
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and general clerical duties
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and documentation protocols
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other payers
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Dentrix
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in scheduling and documentation review
- Exceptional communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Prior clinic experience or medical office administrative support preferred
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Experience in dental or medical office environments highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous
