About the Role:

The Credit Union League of Connecticut (CULCT) is seeking a credit union compliance rock star to enhance and expand our trusted and growing compliance and audit program. This position offers the opportunity to support Connecticut's credit unions directly while growing professionally in a high-impact, mission-focused environment.

As Compliance Officer and Auditor, you will lead compliance audits and consulting engagements across multiple credit unions, drive strategic compliance initiatives, and support our Shared Compliance solution. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and deliver exceptional compliance guidance, training, and support to credit unions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date on all federal and state credit union laws and regulations impacting compliance requirements.
  • Conduct audits and reviews (BSA/AML, OFAC, ACH, SAFE Act, Website, etc.) for multiple credit union clients
  • Support assigned credit unions in developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs.
  • Evaluate department-level compliance procedures and recommend practical updates.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement new laws and regulatory changes across institutions.
  • Perform internal quality control reviews on loans, account openings, ACH, and BSA/AML, OFAC.
  • Create and deliver training materials and sessions for new and current staff.
  • Coordinate with examiners and auditors during reviews and examinations.
  • Assist with responses to legal requests, subpoenas, and garnishments.
  • Facilitate credit union education on compliance topics through webinars, presentations, and in-person sessions.
  • Support departmental strategy execution and goal tracking.
  • Assist with cross-departmental and ad hoc initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in credit union or banking compliance, auditing, or legal roles.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • ACAMs certification or equivalent industry certifications
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and judgment capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Presentation Skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfortable using AI productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot).
  • Self-starter able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision. Ability to switch from one task to another with minimal disruption.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude.

Certifications: Candidates with existing and applicable compliance certifications will be moved to the top. Maintaining the appropriate compliance certifications required.

Location & Travel

  • Must reside in Connecticut or nearby.
  • Frequent in-person meetings and credit union visits across the state.
  • Occasional out-of-state and overnight travel required.
  • Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required during in-person engagements.
