Under general supervision, an incumbent in this position serves in a staff support role in either operational or programmatic areas, depending on assignments. While incumbents are provided guidance, they are expected to exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and application of established policies and procedures, and may recommend appropriate changes as a result of the completion of an assignment, study or project. Work may involve a wide variety of staff support functions, depending on assignment. This is primarily a staff position in which incumbents are expected to relieve higher-level operational or programmatic staff. Supervision may be exercised over number of clerical support staff depending upon the assignment. Does related work as required

EMPLOYEES HIRED UNDER THE HELP PROGRAM WILL BE APPOINTED ON A PERMANENT BASIS. THE HIRING FOR EMERGENCY LIMITED PLACEMENT (HELP) PROGRAM TEMPORARILY REMOVES THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAM REQUIREMENT FOR THIS TITLE.
