About the Company
We are a 40-year-old company located in Ann Arbor, MI that is devoted to creating beautiful custom window treatments for our commercial and residential clients. Whether our creations are crafted on products from Hunter Douglas or other nationally known brands, or whether they include our proprietary brand of OpenLight roller shades (both manual and motorized), we specialize in designing window treatments that suit individual styles, business models and budgets.
About the Role
Creative Windows is looking for a new estimator/project manager to join our team. This role will primarily work out of our Ann Arbor office but will be able to work a hybrid role after initial training.
Responsibilities
- Gather emailed requests for bids and respond back
- Review each request for bid for size, scope and location of each project to determine if it is a project we want to bid
- Create overviews for each project we bid, filling in as much information and making the information as clear as possible
- Attend pre-bid meetings if necessary
- Collect bid documents on potential projects and evaluate job potential (based on products, distance, size of job, etc.)
- Find out all bidders we are bidding to and against for each job
- Collect general conditions information (union, prevailing wage, substitutions, alternates, bid bonds required)
- Review job specifications and drawings
- Submit RFIs if needed
- Do takeoffs on each job
- Submit an RFQ to management for internal products
- Submit RFQs to outside vendors to collect their product costs
- Calculate installation costs
- Estimate total job costs in a timely manner
- Have management look over each bid before submitting
- Submit bids
- Follow up on bids submitted (finding out as much information as possible about who bid and how much)
- Go to post-bid meetings
Qualifications
- Experience: Construction estimating: 1 year (Required)
- Ability to Commute: Ann Arbor, MI 48104 (Required)
- Work Location: Hybrid remote in Ann Arbor, MI 48104
