Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager with a strong background in commercial drywall, metal stud framing, and ceiling systems. This role is responsible for both pre-construction estimating and post-award project management to ensure successful project delivery from bid to closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating:
- Perform quantity takeoffs for drywall, framing, and ceiling systems
- Prepare accurate and competitive bids using plans and specifications
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Identify scope gaps, RFIs, and value engineering opportunities
- Maintain and build relationships with GCs and clients
Project Management:
- Manage awarded projects from kickoff through closeout
- Prepare submittals, RFIs, and project schedules
- Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Track project costs, budgets, and change orders
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Conduct site visits and progress meetings as needed
Qualifications
- 3 years of estimating experience in commercial drywall, framing, and/or ceilings
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with union labor environments
- Knowledge of specialty ceilings and architectural systems
- Existing relationships within the Michigan commercial construction market
- Preferred experience with On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid
- Applicable field experience
