Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional front desk support and addressing inquiries professionally
- Verify patient insurance information and collect necessary documentation to process referrals
- Enter patient data accurately into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding standards
- Follow up on unpaid claims and coordinate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues
- Manage medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, collections, and patient interactions
- Stay current with coding updates and industry regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, including medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding) and DRG classifications
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and record management
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
- Familiarity with insurance verification, claim submission, and follow-up procedures
- Ability to navigate complex billing software and stay organized in a busy environment
- Exceptional communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and team members
