What You’ll Do
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, grinders, robotic systems, and supporting equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system failures
- Troubleshoot CNC controls, drives, motors, servo systems, PLCs, sensors, and automation equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals
- Coordinate machine installations, upgrades, relocations, and commissioning activities
- Perform root cause analysis to identify recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and preventive maintenance schedules within the MAINTAIN X system
- Respond quickly to equipment downtime and minimize operational disruptions
- Recommend and implement equipment reliability improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Manage spare parts inventory and identify critical replacement components
- Lead, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure high levels of technical performance and professional development
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities and prioritize work assignments based on production needs
- Provide technical guidance and support during complex equipment troubleshooting and repairs
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication across maintenance and production departments while incorporating CMC’s Core Values
- Assist management with workforce planning, scheduling, and maintenance resource allocation
- Support employee performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety, and maintenance efficiency
- Serve as the primary point of contact during maintenance-related emergencies or critical equipment failures
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and regulatory requirements
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, electrical safety, and other safe work practices
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the maintenance team
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a CNC manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years of leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine tools and manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, VFDs, and servo systems
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with CMMS software
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field
- Experience with Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak, Okuma, Mitsubishi, or similar CNC control systems
- Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, and industrial networking
- Experience implementing TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
