Data Visualization Specialist

Our client is seeking a Data Visualization Designer to support their Creative Studio and research teams by turning complex data into clear, accurate, and visually compelling stories. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented; you'll design data visualizations, build reusable templates, and create polished materials across reports, presentations, and digital assets. This role is ideally based in New York or San Francisco, though remote candidates will be considered for the right fit. Occasional travel to the office may be required. This assignment is expected to run for 6 months, with potential for extension or conversion to full-time. You'll collaborate closely with researchers, data teams, designers, and marketers to ensure data is not just presented but thoughtfully interpreted and beautifully communicated. Key Responsibilities: 

• Design charts, graphs, diagrams, and infographics that translate complex and technical datasets into clear, compelling visuals.
• Work closely with research, data, and content teams to understand the story behind the data and select the most effective visual format.
• Apply and help evolve established data visualization standards, including chart types, color palettes, labeling conventions, and accessibility guidelines.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity across all visualizations by validating data and using honest, clear visual frameworks.
• Create reusable templates and components in Figma to support faster production across teams.
• Produce high-quality visual materials for websites, research reports, presentations, and internal or external communications.
• Manage multiple projects at once while communicating progress, priorities, and tradeoffs with stakeholders.

 Who You Are: 

• An experienced visual designer with a strong focus on data visualization.
• Highly proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign).
• Skilled at translating complex or abstract data into visuals that are clear, accurate, and visually refined.
• Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of typography, color, layout, and hierarchy.
• Comfortable working within established brand systems and extending them thoughtfully.
• Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• A clear communicator who collaborates well with non-design partners, including researchers and subject-matter experts.

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
