Salary
$227,000 – $340,000 annually (based on experience, credentials, and qualifications)

Job Summary
Psychiatrist providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment for adult patients. Responsible for diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, and physician leadership within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, while supporting quality improvement, compliance, and patient-centered outcomes.
Job Responsibilities: Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in inpatient and outpatient settings Deliver direct clinical coverage for behavioral health and addiction programs Manage complex psychiatric cases and coordinate specialist referrals when needed Oversee medical aspects of inpatient behavioral health care Supervise physician assistants, residents, psychologists, LPCs, and LCSWs Conduct patient assessments through interviews, observation, and diagnostic testing Develop and modify individualized treatment plans and care goals Participate in multidisciplinary team leadership and care coordination Maintain accurate EHR documentation, discharge summaries, and billing compliance Participate in hospital committees and policy development initiatives Provide emergency psychiatric intervention (e.g., suicidal or homicidal patients) Share on-call responsibilities, including nights, weekends, and holidays Support patient transfers and continuity of care across levels of service
Qualifications: MD or DO from an accredited institution Completion of the Psychiatry residency program 2 years post-residency experience preferred Current North Carolina medical license, or willingness to obtain ABPN board certification required BLS and ACLS certification required Valid North Carolina driver’s license Strong diagnostic, clinical, and treatment planning skills in psychiatry Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced environments Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems ,
