Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Primary Care Physician is responsible for delivering comprehensive outpatient primary care services in accordance with Maryland state regulations and established clinical standards. This role manages a panel of patients, provides preventative and chronic disease care, coordinates referrals, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered healthcare. The Physician also supports organizational initiatives, quality improvement efforts, community outreach programs, and value-based care models while maintaining compliance with clinical, regulatory, and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients in an outpatient clinical setting. Manage a designated patient panel and oversee all aspects of patient care, treatment planning, and follow-up. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions while promoting disease prevention and wellness. Coordinate referrals to specialists, hospitals, and community resources as appropriate. Maintain timely and accurate patient documentation, chart completion, and EHR management. Review and address patient messages, laboratory results, diagnostic reports, and care coordination activities promptly. Participate in peer review activities, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance programs. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and leadership to support team-based patient care. Attend provider meetings, town halls, committee assignments, and organizational initiatives as required. Support community outreach efforts, including health fairs, educational programs, and community health initiatives. Contribute to grant-funded programs, value-based care initiatives, Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) programs, and other strategic healthcare projects. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and applicable healthcare laws. Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Current and unrestricted Physician license in the State of Maryland or ability to obtain licensure. Minimum of two (2) years of direct primary care experience preferred; community health center experience strongly preferred. Current BLS certification or ability to obtain certification; ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications are encouraged. Strong understanding of outpatient clinical operations, continuity of care, and patient-centered healthcare delivery. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, healthcare compliance requirements, and medical record documentation standards. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity when serving diverse patient populations. Proven record of professionalism, dependability, attendance, and teamwork. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and healthcare technology systems.
