Consulting Manager – Governmental Accounting

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Consulting Manager to join our team and take an in-charge role across a wide range of governmental accounting and financial reporting engagements. This person will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, assist in day-to-day accounting services work, and take ownership of financial statement preparation from start to finish.
What You’ll Do
∙ Serve as in-charge and assist others on governmental financial statement preparation engagements
∙ Provide ongoing governmental accounting services to clients, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and other variable client needs
∙ Apply GASB accounting standards in a practical, client-facing context
∙ Coordinate directly with government finance staff, serving as a trusted day-to-day resource
∙ Lead or aid in other engagements such as internal control assessments, fraud risk management evaluations, and special investigations.
∙ Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, keeping projects on schedule and on budget
∙ Review and mentor the work of other accountants on your engagements
∙ Collaborate with firm shareholders on engagement planning and quality
∙ Actively participate in formal and informal training to continuously grow technical and non-technical competencies
What We’re Looking For
∙ BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
∙ A minimum of 3 years of experience in governmental accounting, governmental auditing, or a government finance role such as a municipality, state government, state agency, or higher education institution
∙ Familiarity with governmental fund accounting and GASB standards strongly preferred
∙ Experience with financial statement preparation and/or auditing a significant plus
∙ CPA license preferred; candidates actively pursuing licensure or those with extensive experience will be considered
∙ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
∙ Confident communicator — you’ll work directly with government finance officials regularly
∙ High attention to detail, problem solving, and a commitment to accuracy
∙ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with government ERP systems is a plus.
∙ Ability to travel on-site to clients as needed
