The primary purpose of the position is to provide surveillance and monitoring of Tuberculosis (TB) patientsand contacts in order to ensure compliance with proper control measures.
## Essential Functions
60% Coordination of Tuberculosis Program
Plan, coordinate and manage the Tuberculosis Control, OSHA and Adult Immunization Programs. Establish program goals, policies and guidelines with the Adult Health Supervisor, Program Manager. Make modifications in the Programs as new standards occur. Compile reports and assemble relevant program data. Be involved in program development, planning with other health professionals and organizations to initiate changes where problems occur and creating solutions to answer program objectives. These actions will involve among others, health department staff, schools, hospital, day cares, mental health, community groups and organizations, local physicians and their staff and long-term care facilities. Train and coordinate staff in Adult Immunization Clinic and as needed for Tuberculosis Control. Review all documentation for accuracy and compliance with program standards. Make budgetary recommendations to the Supervisor and Program Manager to accomplish the goals of the program.
Refugee Program
Serve as Health Department Liaison for Refugees' arriving in the area
Contact Patient/sponsor And Arrange For
Serve as Employee Health Nurse and collaborate with CCHD immunization Nurse to ensure all new employees are adequately immunized and exposures are followed up in a timely manner.
1%Other Duties
In times of disaster, will function as a health professional in a Red Cross Shelter.
Other duties deemed necessary by the Adult Health Supervisor, Nursing Director or Health Director
## Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience.
Necessary Special Qualification - A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing.

- Follow each patient and / or contact according to program guidelines
- Notify any facility where a case of Tuberculosis occurs
- Complete Communicable Disease Reports and case reports through the TB NC EDSS (TB North Carolina Electronic Data Surveillance System)
- Review and follow-up on all Epi (x-rays) reports
- Schedule patients for chest x-rays, sputum exams and blood work
- Monitor all Tuberculosis patients, suspects and contacts
- Serve as a Health Department representative on individual programs in the community
- Communicate with physicians by phone and / or letter
- Order stock and patient anti-Tuberculosis drugs for pharmacy
- Dispense TB medications after filled by Pharmacist
- Perform annual TB screening for non-skilled nursing facilities
