The Pallet Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and documenting the condition of damaged pallets within the facility. This role is crucial in reducing costs associated with third-party pallet disposal and replacement, and optimizing the utilization of on-site resources.

A Day in the Life as a Pallet Repair Technician...
- Inspect wooden pallets for damage, including broken or cracked stringers, broken or missing deck boards, and loose or protruding nails
- Segregate pallets based on damage (repairable vs. non-repairable)
- Perform pallet repairs according to the SOP, including replacing broken stringers and deck boards, and repairing loose nails
- Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including compressors, air hoses, nail guns, and hand tools
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including designated areas for pallet inspection, repair, and staging
- Document the number of pallets repaired daily, including details such as date, employee name, and the number of 48” and 96” pallets repaired
- Accurately record materials used in the repair process (replacement boards, nails, etc.).
- Submit completed Pallet Repair Logs to the supervisor at the end of each shift
- Properly handle and stage non-repairable pallets for disposal by local 3rd party vendor, and maintain accurate records of these pallets
- Adhere to all safety precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and dust masks
- Performs all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals
- Participate in training programs related to pallet repair procedures, tool and equipment usage, safety, and documentation
- Operates all material handling equipment safely: stand-up type forklift (PE, PC, RC)
- Basic English Language proficiency
- Possess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position
- Maintains an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines as outlined in the Company Code of Conduct and Associate Policy manuals
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, including wooden pallets and replacement parts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately inspect pallets for damage
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach frequently
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools (e.g., hammer, nail gun, compressor).
