We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Assistant with NCCCO certification to join our crane operations team. This position plays a key role in supporting day-to-day yard operations, assisting with crane setup and teardown, equipment organization, and ensuring a clean and efficient work environment.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and able to operate cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently within the yard.
What You’ll Do
- Operate cranes and lifting equipment within the yard as required (NCCCO certification required).
- Assist with loading and unloading of crane components, counterweights, and rigging.
- Organize and maintain yard inventory including rigging, crane parts, and tools.
- Perform pre-use inspections of equipment and ensure all items are in safe working order.
- Assist mechanics and operators with equipment preparation before deployment to jobsites.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free yard environment.
- Support transportation and logistics by helping coordinate inbound/outbound shipments.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and crane operation protocols.
- Perform minor maintenance, fueling, and washing of cranes and support equipment as needed.
- Assist with ground prep, and other yard upkeep duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Valid NCCCO Certification (minimum: swing cab or lattice boom crane).
- Valid CDL preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a crane, construction, or heavy equipment environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of crane components.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Must be reliable, safety-minded, and able to work independently or with a team.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Working conditions
Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity necessary.

- Requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen to the satisfaction of Crane Service Inc.
- This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
- Must a possess a clean MVR & valid Driver's License
- This job requires the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
- Requires working and driving outdoors in various climates/temperatures and the possibility of sitting for an extended period.
The employee may be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the workplace is moderate.
