Job Summary
The Activities Aide is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational, social, educational, and wellness programs that promote the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of residents. The Activities Aide helps create a positive, engaging, and resident-centered environment while encouraging participation and enhancing residents' quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and conducting daily activities, events, and outings for residents.
- Encourage resident participation while respecting each resident's preferences, abilities, and independence.
- Lead or assist with group activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, educational programs, religious services, and social events.
- Escort residents to and from activities as needed.
- Assist with decorating the community for holidays, seasonal events, and special occasions.
- Prepare activity supplies, materials, and equipment before scheduled programs.
- Document resident participation and report changes in residents' interests, mood, or condition to the appropriate staff.
- Build positive relationships with residents and provide companionship during activities.
- Coordinate with volunteers, entertainers, and community groups participating in programs.
- Assist with scheduled community outings while ensuring resident safety.
- Maintain activity areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures at all times.
- Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or Executive Director.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- May include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on activity programming and special events.
- Previous experience working with older adults, assisted living, memory care, or recreational programming preferred.
- Compassionate, energetic, and enthusiastic personality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
- Creative, organized, and dependable.
- Valid driver's license may be required for community outings
