Excavator & Backhoe Operators (Underground Drainage Work)

Craftsmen Contractors is looking to hire full-time Excavator/Trackhoe & Backhoe Operators for the Thibodaux and Bayou Buff areas. This job consists of digging trenches and handling heavier material excavation for underground site drainage work. Needing someone who has experience with laser grading and knowledge of GPS equipment. Drainage and plumbing knowledge is a plus. This is for a long-term commercial project working day shifts from Monday thru Friday.

Pay rate is $22 - $25/hour depending on experience.

Weekly pay by direct deposit.

No per diem is offered.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect light and heavy equipment before and after use to ensure they are working properly
• Load and unload cargo and move them to the appropriate storage area
• Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
• Utilize an excavator, trackhoe, or backhoe for drainage tasks, digging pipe, and placing pipe.
• Selecting, fitting, and removing attachments such as buckets, scoops, shovel blades, rock-breaking hammers, winches, and blades.
• Operate controls to excavate, break, drill, level, compact, gouge out, move, load, and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil, and other materials.
• Working from drawings, markers, and verbal instructions.
• Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary

Requirements:

• Requires excellent communication and coordination skills. Must be organized, dedicated, and prompt.
• 2 years of experience working with an excavator/ trackhoe, or backhoe.
• Knowledge of the proper operation of light/heavy equipment, as well as safety standards
• Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50 pounds
• Will need all PPE and reliable transportation to get to work.
• Should have some experience with drainage, laser grading, and knowledge of GPS equipment.
• Plumbing knowledge is a plus.
