Facilities Maintenance Technician (Full Time)
About Us:
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) is a community-focused athletic training facility and outdoor destination located on a lakeside campus in Craftsbury, Vermont. Our mission is:
- To support and promote participation and excellence in lifelong sports with a special focus on Rowing, Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon, Mountain Biking, and Running.
- To use and teach sustainable practices.
- To protect and manage the surrounding land, lake, and trails.
Position Summary:
Our team of technicians ensure the Outdoor Center’s buildings, vehicles, equipment, HVAC systems, grounds, and trails are safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for all employees, guests, athletes, volunteers, and visitors.
Pay & Schedule:
$23-$25 per hour to start.
The COC is open 365 days per year.
Technicians are needed between our operating hours of 7am and 5 pm. Working 4, 10-hour days may be an option.
Working at least one (1) weekend day is required; you will receive a shift differential of $2 per hour.
Major Responsibilities:
- Arrive at work on time for scheduled shifts and with minimal callouts.
- Carry a radio and promptly respond to emergency and routine requests for assistance.
- Basic computer/cell phone/internet search skills including proficiency of using email.
- Work independently but also cooperate with and help other technicians when needed.
- Investigate maintenance issues/Diagnose problems/Develop solutions for: buildings, vehicles, workspaces, waterfront docks, boats, commercial and residential appliances, equipment and tools, various HVAC systems, dirt roads, parking lots, and pathways.
- Routinely collect, transfer, and dispose of garbage, recycling, and compost materials
- Schedule appointments with trusted list of contractors/specialist when needed.
- Mowing/weed-whacking in Summer and plowing/shoveling snow in Winter.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic First aid is helpful.
- Experience: Beyond basic skills in multiple trades are desirable, but not required.

- Driving: Minimum of a driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Routinely operate golf cart and side-by-side mule.
- Prior operation of plow trucks, one-ton dump trucks, tractors, and snow machines are highly desirable.
- Physical requirements:
- Must be able to stand for several hours.
- Must be able to occasionally lift 50lbs.
- Majority of time is spent working outdoors – comfort working in inclement weather conditions is mandatory.
