Staff Pharmacist – Compounding Focus

Position Summary

CraftedRx is seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and quality-focused Staff Pharmacist to join our team in Warrenton, MO. This position is well-suited for a motivated new graduateor licensed pharmacist seeking specialized career development in 503A non-sterile compounding. Prior compounding experience is not required—we provide thorough training on our specific product lines, formulation protocols, and workflow processes.

In this role, you will verify and dispense customized compounded medications alongside mail-order/community pharmacy services. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in pharmaceutical math, high personal standards for product quality, and the adaptability required to navigate custom formulations and evolving clinical protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Review, verify, and dispense customized non-sterile compounded medications in accordance with state laws, federal regulations, and internal protocols.
  • Perform and verify precision mathematical calculations required for custom dosing, active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) conversions, and formulation adjustments.
  • Evaluate prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, dosage accuracy, and potential drug interactions.
  • Enforce rigorous quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) standards for every compound produced.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with prescribers, patients, and healthcare partners to resolve clinical inquiries and clarify prescription details.

Primary Duties

  • Support daily compounding and mail-order operations, supervising technicians throughout the preparation, weighing, mixing, packaging, and labeling phases.
  • Maintain adaptability to changing formularies, updated compounding procedures, and new product lines.
  • Monitor state regulatory compliance and licensing requirements across active shipping destinations.
  • Handle patient and prescriber consultations regarding compounded therapies, order tracking, or service inquiries.
  • Maintain high standards of production output without compromising accuracy, consistency, or quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight, technical training, and quality assurance supervision to compounding technicians and lab staff.

Work Environment

  • Split between a high-volume non-sterile compounding lab, professional office space, and a climate-controlled fulfillment center.
  • Utilizes specialized compounding equipment (e.g., electronic mortars/pestles, ointment mills, automated powder fillers) and standard pharmacy software.

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Repetitive hand movements and fine motor skills required for precision measurement and equipment operation.
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Comfortable using step-stools or ladders to access inventory.

Position Type / Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Monday through Friday schedule; occasional Saturday coverage as operational needs dictate.

Travel

  • Minimal; occasional local travel for off-site training or administrative needs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy (PharmD or RPh).
  • Active, unrestricted Missouri Pharmacist license (or eligible for immediate licensure).
  • Strong mathematical proficiency with a high degree of precision in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Genuine enthusiasm and interest in learning non-sterile compounding and custom formulation chemistry.
  • Uncompromising dedication to product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skill in an environment with changing formularies and customized patient therapies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with USP compounding standards (e.g., USP <795>).
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a team setting.
  • Background in retail, mail-order, or independent pharmacy operations.
