JOB REQUIREMENTS: SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates activities of
workers engaged in plastic extrusion and related finishing (secondary)
Work By Performing The Following Duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Confers with supervisor of preceding shift and/or production manager
and/or production scheduler to determine status of current and pending
production runs. Analyzes Shop orders and prints to determine
information such as material to be used, type of operations, and
sequence of operations required. Requisitions dies, fixtures, and
material as needed. Interprets run card specifications, prints, and job
shop orders to production employees, and assigns duties based on skill
and experience of each operator. Studies production schedules and
estimates employee\'s time requirements for completion of job. Ensures
each order has correct quantities produced in pieces, boxes, reels,
coils, or feet according to the Shop Order. Inspects work-in-progress
and finished products visually, and measures each part running with
calipers and other instruments, to verify conformance to specifications,
documents measurements on process control check sheet, and directs
adjustments of machines if necessary. Make sure parts are being produced
in the best possible way. Check teardowns, set-ups and start-ups of
employees. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees
involving work problems. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet
production schedules. Determines that raw material is charged in and out
correctly. Maintains time and production records. Relays production
status information to supervisor of following shift. See that scrap is
ground up in a prompt and timely manner. Ensure all scrap is recorded
and accounted for properly. Responsible for training all production
employees permanent or temporary and documentation of such training.
Interprets company policies to employees, trains and enforce safety
regulations and maintains good housekeeping. Attend various safety,
supervisory or other related training, workshops or seminars. May attend
team meetings with sales and engineering for quoting new jobs. Attends
daily production scheduling meeting. Holds weekly employee team
meetings. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment
performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working
conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Initiates or
suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals. Supervises a
portion of inventory such as weighing and counting of raw material.
Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and
reports need for machine repairs. May attempt less complex repairs on
the off shifts. On occasion may need to set up or polish tooling.
Occasionally performs activities of employees supervised including
packing parts, making boxes, making skids, helping out on the line,
finding materials needed for a job, mixing raw materials, filling
hoppers, setting-up, starting-up, tearing down extrusion jobs, running
and packaging production jobs, and wrapping skids. Sets up and operates
machines to make test runs for developments and experimental products.
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES Manages one group leader who, together with
supervisor, supervises a total of 5 to 20 employees in the primary
(extrusion) section and secondary (finishing) section. Is responsible
for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization\'s policies, procedures, work instructions, shop orders,
ISO, customer requests, handbook, safety and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
planning, assigning and directing work; appraising employee performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and
resolving problems; attending quote meetings; attending daily production
scheduling meeting; participating in safety meetings; participating in
ISO audits; participating in inventory; holding weekly employee team
meetings. Responsible for the quality of production parts on your shift,
and responsible for the correct quantity of parts produced on your

processes, equipment, methods and be able to troubleshoot, and train
employees on the same. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
