The Role: Senior Accountant
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various accounting disciplines, including Payroll compliance, GAAP, and SOX compliance.
The Senior Accountant supports CPT’s financial operations by managing core accounting functions, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring accuracy across general ledger activities. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and ready to grow into broader financial responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries in Business Central and related systems
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
- Support month-end and year-end close processes including financial statement review and preparation
- Work with large data sets, applying advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, Power Query, data models, advanced formulas) to support financial analysis
- Assist with preparation and review of income tax filings, including state and pass-through entity compliance while maintaining organized documentation for audits and tax filings
- Collaborate with AP/AR teams to ensure accurate coding and entries
- Identify and resolve discrepancies across accounts
- Contribute to various ad-hoc projects including reporting, system improvements, and process enhancement initiatives
- Oversee and reconcile inventory accounts by partnering with the warehouse team to complete inventory counts, developing and maintaining efficient checkout and tracking processes, and ensuring accurate valuation and reporting in compliance with accounting standards
- Accurately process payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; maintain records and support employee inquiries
- Support cash management, through daily cash reconciliations and liquidity forecasting
- Manage the fixed asset accounts, including ROU assets and liabilities, ensuring appropriate depreciation and amortization
- Oversee all expense reporting and the company credit card program
- Other duties as assigned
Experience
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a service-based or multi-client environment
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger workflows
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (Business Central a plus)
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
