The Labeling Specialist is responsible for ensuring all product labels meet applicable federal, state, and customer-specific regulatory requirements. This includes all product documentation including ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutrition facts, claims, and product specifications. The labeling specialist works closely with cross-functional team members from R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Sales, and Operations to ensure labels accurately reflect product formulations and regulatory standards while supporting business and customer needs.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
- Label Copy creation: product name, weight statement, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, nutrition facts & claims that meet federal and state requirement
- CN Lab submissions: USDA label submissions
- Partner and provide feedback to product developers regarding formulations and adherence to claims and/or ingredient statement expectations
- Evaluate and confirm new ingredient descriptions based on CFR and supplier documentation
- Claims and product certification review
- Support certification process with 3rd parties (ORG/NGMO)
- Apply customer requirements to creation / review process of label copy
- Provide ideas and/or guidance to PD from a regulatory lens that will support customer’s end goal. Participate in artwork review process regarding claims
- Communicate with sales, brokers, and K12 customers regarding requests for information such as product status, nutritional information, specifications, product handling, etc.
- Support Master Data team with customer portal data needs
- Supporting template and management of internally printed label creation
- Participate or lead the creation of Labeling SOPs B
- Assists Bakery Companies as necessary to support product and brand growth
- Maintains consistent communication with our affiliate entities
- Maintain incoming samples and taste testing that needs to take place in the TN location (this includes freezer cleanout when necessary for R&D area)
- Provides quick responses to questions with key accounts or schools who are particularly sensitive or in review process
- Fully support the Bakery Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
- Promote a thoroughly cross-trained department by sharing expertise in related fields
- Practice and promote encouragement and respect by acknowledging and engaging cross-functional team members
- Invests time and effort in professional development

Education and Experience:
- Degree in nutrition, dietetics, food science or a related field
- 5 years of applicable role experience
- Must have knowledge of federal and state requirements
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and various Formula Management / NFP creation tools
- Fast learner of new computer skills and software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
