As a Principal HR Consultant, you will operate at the highest individual contributor level, leading complex engagements, advising senior leaders, and shaping strategic HR solutions across the public sector. This role is ideal for an experienced consultant who thrives in ambiguity, leads with expertise, and is motivated to drive meaningful organizational change.
You’ll play a key role in project leadership, project management, client strategy, and business development, while mentoring consultants and strengthening our consulting practice.
- Lead large, complex HR consulting engagements from scoping through delivery.
- Design solutions in areas across the full spectrum of the HR function.
- Oversee and mentor project teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to client contacts, including executives and stakeholders.
- Develop proposals, project teams, scopes of work, and cost estimates; contribute to new business development.
- Analyze data and deliver clear, defensible recommendations.
- Present findings to clients and at industry or professional events.
Travel Requirements
This is a remote position with occasional travel:
- Travel to client sites as needed to support project delivery and strengthen partnerships.
- Travel to client sites to participate in request for proposal in-person interviews.
- Attend in-person team meetings periodically to collaborate and align on strategy.

What Makes You Fit
You are a strategic, independent, and relationship-driven leader who brings both technical expertise and practical consulting insight. You are comfortable leading ambiguity, influencing decision-makers, and driving results across complex environments.
- Public Sector Expertise across multiple HR disciplines (recruitment, policy, employee relations, labor relations, classification/compensation, workplace investigations, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and manage client relationships
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience in the public sector strongly preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or qualifying experience on a year for year basis).
Experience
- 6 years of progressive HR or consulting experience
