The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team and serves as a critical partner to the Controller in managing the District’s financial integrity and operational accountability. This position performs high-level accounting, financial reporting, budget development, forecasting, and analytical work essential to District decision-making. Responsibilities include month-end closing, general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliation, treasury transactions, capital project draw coordination, and preparation of internal financial statements and discussion/analysis reports. The Assistant Controller maintains complex financial models, compiles statistical and operational data, supports annual audits, and acts as a liaison to District departments during the budget process.
Education & Certification
- Active California CPA License (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- MBA preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning, analysis, and accounting
The following experience is desirable, but not required
- Experience in public agency or fund accounting
- Airport or aviation industry experience
- Experience with construction/public works projects
- Experience with Sage 100 or similar financial systems

The selection process is tentative, and applicants will be notified if changes are made. To assess applicants' possession of required qualifications, the examination process may include an oral examination, pre-examination exercises, performance examination, and/or written examination.
