What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Chief position at CPS HR Consulting (Client Recruitments)?
The Strasburg Fire Protection District is seeking an inspiring and strategic Fire Chief to lead the district by providing a vision for the future while supporting the delivery of first-rate fire and rescue services to the Strasburg community. Led by an engaged board of directors, the new Fire Chief will be an impartial and talented mentor with a history of inspiring others to excel and grow. With a demonstrated track record of establishing high standards and holding people accountable, the new Chief will articulate goals and be willing to tackle difficult issues while leveraging best practices to prepare the department for the future.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree level of study in fire science, public administration, a closely related field or equivalent work experience.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in fire and emergency medical service with progressive supervisory experience to include at least two years of upper-level public safety management in a paid position.
- Two years of relevant management or administrative experience.
- Must maintain or establish a residence within a 20-minute response time of the district’s headquarters within 6 months of employment. In district is preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire, a valid Colorado Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. The individual may not have any alcohol related driving offenses within 10 years of date of application.
- IFSAC accreditation or equivalent with a Fire Officer I or greater. Level II must be obtained within two years of date of hire.
- Possession of Fire Instructor I certification with Level II preferred (or two years of experience at Level I).
- National registered emergency medical technician or paramedic preferred but not required.
- NIMS IS 100, IS 200, IS 300, IS 400, IS 700, and IS 800.
- Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Executive Fire Officer (EFO), or Fire Officer designation (CPSE) in combination with a master’s degree in business management, public safety management, or public administration, is preferred.
- Special District Leadership Program graduate preferred, but must obtain within two years.
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for certain needs
