Join our team at the Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Support Specialist. This essential role supports the operations of our jail by assisting Detention Officers with the intake and release of inmates, while also performing critical administrative, financial, and communication tasks. This is a classified, non-exempt position with a competitive pay structure.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and process payment demands as required
- Maintain detailed spreadsheets for contracted inmate stays to aid in accurate billing
- Issue monthly invoices to partner facilities for inmate housing and transport services
- Track and record daily inmate meal charges
- Review and approve inmate mail and emails
- Verify and process indigent packs for inmates
- Assist with booking and release procedures for inmates
- Provide coverage at the front desk and assist with visitor inquiries as needed
- Handle civil department duties, including receiving and processing paperwork
- Support the records department, ensuring timely forwarding of approved reports to the County Attorney’s Office
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two (2) years of secretarial or accounting experience
- Valid Arizona Driver License required within three (3) months of hire
- Proficient in computer use and standard office equipment
- One (1) year of experience in finance, business accounting, or use of Visions software
- Knowledge of modern office practices
- Familiarity with legal terminology
- Strong telephone and communication skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
