The Los Angeles County Probation (LACP) is seeking highly motivated, experienced individuals outside of LA County for the position of Deputy Probation Officer I. Transfer over to a Department that is forward thinking and opportunities for advancement are available.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist and advise youth on redirecting behavior into positive, pro-social channels.
- Serve as a sworn Peace Officer overseeing the care, safety, and control of probation youth in residential treatment facilities or juvenile halls.
- Conduct life-skills assessments for probation youth.
- Provide casework services to support rehabilitation efforts.
- Ensure dorm and facility security.
- Restrain combative youth, when necessary.
- Assist in re-socialization efforts for probation youth.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Currently hold a position equivalent to Deputy Probation Officer I, RT/DS in California (outside of LA County) for at least one year.
- Completion of Juvenile Corrections Officer CORE training and PC 832.
- No felony convictions.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License at the time of appointment.

Salary : $65,431 - $83,516
