Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, the custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the facility and its grounds. Their role plays a vital part in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for clients, staff and visitors.

POSITION DUTIES: 

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
• Able to stand, squat, bend and lift 50lbs
• Emptying trash and recycling bins
• Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchen areas
• Sweeping and mopping the dorms
• Maintain floors by stripping, waxing, and buffing as needed
• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paperEnsuring the exterior of the facility is clean and presentable
• Picking up trash and debris from the grounds
• Clearing snow and ice from walkways and entryways during inclement weather
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor
• Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are used and stored safely in compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety standards
• Assist in conducting routine safety checks, such as ensuring fire exits are clear and equipment is functioning properly
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners and pressure washer
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks assigned. Comfortable using hand tools
• Support emergency cleanup efforts in case of spills, leaks, or other unexpected situations
• Participate in all trainings as scheduled by the supervisor
• Painting and repairs

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

   

Requirements: 

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• At least one year of custodial or janitorial experience 
• Ability to speak, write and understand English
• Ability to flex schedule as needed
• CPR/First Aid Certification (Provided by the Program)
• NARCAN (Provided by the program)
• Driver's License preferred
