Summary
The Director of the Radiology Department ensures service development, employee management and resource allocation and control in order to support and enhance patient care. Responsible for the services provided within the hospital by the diagnostic x-ray, ultrasound, CT Scan, and mammography. Manages, monitors, and maintains effective department operations in the area of radiology ensuring effective and efficient department performance and high-quality service in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Cozad Community Health System.

· Oversees day-to-day operations of the Radiology Department and staff.
· Organizes and directs quality assurance, develops department policies and procedures, and works with other clinical departments to provide services.
· Performs accurate and safe operation of imaging equipment and follows established safety procedures in order to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure or unnecessary examinations.
· Assesses patient condition accurately determining patient’s ability to comply with the physical requirements of the examination to minimize patient or exam problems. Provides competent, safe, and effective patient care.
· Develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing service programs, which ensures quality patient programs consistent with the health system mission.
· Records documentation accurately and timely.
· Follows the hospital exposure control, bloodborne, and airborne pathogen plans.
· Develops and maintains the annual operating budget for the Radiology Department, including productivity and FTE management based on business needs.
· Ensures adequate coding, documentation and accurate charge capturing for Chargemaster.
· Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.
· Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.
· Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, safety, and evaluation of Radiology Department employees. Ensures patient experience is fully and accurately completed. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program. Proficient with the principles and practices of Radiation Technology as outlined by the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services. Understanding of X-Ray patient care procedures and medical terminology required. At least 5 years of Radiology experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current ARRT Registration
Current Nebraska Licensure in a Radiology related field
Basic Life Support (CPR)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
