Additional Information About the Position for Qualified Candidates
- $6,000 Sign-On Bonus

Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the physiologic, psychological and cognitive status of the patient. Provides nutritional counseling, identifies patient/caregiver learning needs and initiates medical nutrition therapy. Collaborates with physician and other health care providers as appropriate. Evaluates patient educational materials. Scope of Practice: The Registered Nurse Specialist (Certified Diabetes Educator) is able to recognize and prioritize complex data in order to identify needs of patients with diabetes across the lifespan, and provide therapeutic problem solving, counseling and regimen adjustments. The scope of specialty diabetes practice includes management skills such as medical nutrition therapy, medication adjustment, exercise planning, counseling for behavior management and psychosocial issues. Attaining optimal metabolic control may include treatment and monitoring of acute and chronic complications.

Education
Required: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing or NLN approved program
Experience
Required: None
Preferred: Previous nursing experience, especially in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting
Skills
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required: Current Registered Nurse License active in the state of Missouri
Must obtain American Heart Association BLS within 90 days of hire
