The role of the Prior Auth Specialist MA III is to centrally coordinate obtain, review, and track prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment. The goal of the Prior Auth Specialist MA III is to work with all Cox Medical Group clinics in order to complete prior authorizations through the various methods that required by insurers.
Education
▪ Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
▪ Required effective 9/1/20: Graduated from a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship.
Experience
▪ Required: At least two years' experience as a Medical Assistant
▪ Preferred: Previous experience in work that involved direct contact with people
▪ Preferred: Previous experience in an ambulatory clinic setting
Skills
▪ Strong customer service skills when working with various staff members
▪ Have professional verbal and written communication skills
▪ Ability to work independently and be self-directed to complete prior authorizations in a timely manner
▪ Possess excellent time management skills
▪ Proficient using computers, including all Microsoft programs
▪ Promote the mission and values of CoxHealth
Licensure/Certification/Registration
▪ Required: Certification or Registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP.
