Job Overview
The Cowboy Cafe is looking for an experienced, energetic, and reliable line cook to join our back-of-house team on Historic Main Street. As a line cook, you will be the engine of our kitchen, responsible for executing our menu at high-volume that feeds hungry locals and travelers alike. From slinging early morning breakfast scrambles and hearty skillets to char-broiling our signature Cowboy Burgers. You will ensure that every plate leaves the window hot, accurate, and up to our quality standards. Responsibilities
- Station Execution: Set up, stock, and manage your assigned station (grill, flat-top, fry, or assembly) for daily service
- High-Volume Cooking: Prepare a diverse menu of traditional American breakfast favorites, omelets, classic lunch burgers, and rustic dinners to exact recipe specifications
- Timing & Ticket Management: Coordinate with the rest of the line to ensure all items on a ticket finish together, maintaining efficient ticket times even during peak weekend rushes
- Food Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a spotless, organized workspace. Strictly adhere to all local food safety codes, temperature logging, and cross-contamination prevention, and sanitation standards
- Kitchen Teamwork: Maintain clear, respectful, and proactive communication with front-of-house staff and fellow line cooks
- Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed at all times to uphold food safety management standards
Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a line cook or short-order cook in a high-volume restaurant preferred (breakfast experience on a flat-top is a massive plus).
- Speed & Stamina: Ability to multi-task efficiently under high pressure while remaining on your feet for long shifts. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds
- Food & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of professional kitchen sanitation procedures. Holding a valid food handler or manager certificate (such as ServSafe is highly valued
- Availability: Dependable attendance is crucial. Must be able to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by a bustling breakfast and lunch service
