What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Intern position at CoverPanda?
We’re a fast-growing startup looking for a part-time Accounting Account Manager (20 hours/week). This role blends accounting, account management, and operations support. You’ll work directly with our team to support a portfolio of clients, help with onboarding, and proactively solve problems as we scale. This role can turn into full-time employment.
Hours & Location
- ~20 hours per week
- Starts in-office; hybrid possible after ramp-up
- Ideal for an accounting student or recent graduate looking for meaningful, hands-on experience
Compensation
- $20/hour
What You’ll Do
- Support day-to-day management of client accounts
- Be a friendly, professional point of contact for clients
- Proactively check in on accounts and surface issues or opportunities
- Onboarding & Systems Setup
- Assist with onboarding new clients
- Set up clients in our internal systems (e.g., Carbon, QBO)
- Configure tasks and workflows so ongoing bookkeeping and reporting run smoothly
- Verify connections to QuickBooks and other tools are working correctly
- Accounting & Operations Support
- Help tie up “loose ends” across accounts (missing info, unclear transactions, etc.)
- Support preparation work around key deadlines (1099s, sales tax filings, other requests)
- Over time, take ownership of your own account portfolio
- Help us improve processes, not just follow them
Who You Are
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an accounting degree (or strong accounting coursework)
- Comfortable with basic accounting concepts and eager to apply them to real businesses
- Client-facing and articulate – you’re confident talking to business owners and teammates
- High-agency and entrepreneurial – you don’t wait to be told what to do; you look for ways to help
- Analytical and detail-oriented – you notice when “something doesn’t look right” in the numbers
- Comfortable in an early-stage, fast-changing environment (this is a startup, not a big four firm)
Nice to Have
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Prior experience in client service, sales, or customer-facing roles
- Experience working in accounting for real businesses (internships, part-time roles, family business, etc.)
