Job Description
Position: Business Education Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Rhode Island Teaching Certificate in Business Education (Grades 6–12) issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education
Secondary teaching experience preferred
Function:
The Business Education Teacher provides instruction in business and career readiness to prepare students for postsecondary education and workforce success.

Instruction emphasizes real-world application, technology integration, and project-based learning.
Responsibilities:
>Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district and state frameworks
>Develop and implement lesson plans and assessments based on student needs and data
>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
>Integrate technology and business software into daily instruction
>Provide authentic, real-world learning experiences (projects, simulations, guest speakers when available)
>Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments
>Maintain accurate student records and grades
>Communicate regularly with families/guardians regarding student progress
>Collaborate with colleagues, special educators, and related service providers
>Support students with IEP, 504, and EL accommodations and modifications
>Maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment
>Participate in school and district meetings and required professional development
>Complete all other duties as assigned by administration

Parent and Community Communication:
>Maintain regular and timely communication with parents/guardians
>Respond to parent inquiries within 24–48 hours when possible
Terms of Employment:
Per collective bargaining agreement between Coventry School Committee and Coventry Teachers’ Alliance.
Evaluation:
Performance evaluated according to district policy and contractual guidelines.
