Position Summary:
The Field Project Manager oversees the on-site execution and delivery of multiple AVL integration projects, ensuring they are completed on time, on budget, and to Covenant’s standards of excellence. This role bridges Field Operations, Engineering, and Project Coordination, serving as the key operational leader responsible for project readiness, field deployment, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Reporting to the Project Operations Manager leads and mentors Project Leads and field crews, ensuring alignment between design intent, schedule, and field performance.
This position requires strong leadership, planning discipline, and the ability to balance multiple concurrent projects in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight and Coordination
- Manage multiple field projects from mobilization to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate directly with the Project Release Train Engineer (RTE), Project Planning Supervisor, and Project Coordinator to ensure readiness prior to field deployment.
- Translate engineering drawings and project scopes into actionable field tasks and measurable milestones.
- Review project schedules, sequencing, and dependencies with contractors and internal teams.
- Conduct site visits, kickoff meetings, and regular progress reviews to ensure projects remain on track.
Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise Project Leads and field technicians, ensuring consistent communication, direction, and accountability.
- Provide clear task delegation, schedule alignment, and resource planning for assigned projects.
- Mentor Project Leads on documentation practices, jobsite coordination, and client interaction.
- Maintain oversight of crew performance, daily reporting, and issue resolution.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement within the field team.
Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary field liaison between Covenant and the General Contractor, Electrical Contractor, and other trades.
- Ensure proactive communication with the client, Project Management, and Engineering teams to prevent scope drift or delays.
- Represent Covenant during site coordination meetings, inspections, and walkthroughs.
- Deliver clear, timely updates to senior leadership regarding project status, risks, and resource needs.
Operational and Financial Accountability
- Manage labor forecasting, field scheduling, and material usage to maintain efficiency and profitability.
- Track project budgets, change orders, and milestone billing readiness in collaboration with Accounting and the ARTT Team.
- Identify potential scope gaps, material shortages, or schedule conflicts early and implement corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and Covenant’s best practices in the field.
Documentation and Quality Control
- Review and validate daily field reports, RFIs, redlines, and as-built updates submitted by Project Leads.
- Ensure proper closeout documentation, testing records, and client signoffs are submitted at project completion.
- Maintain accurate project tracking within Covenant’s systems and ensure document consistency across phases.
- Conduct project retrospective debriefs and lessons-learned sessions with field teams to improve future performance.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in AVL integration, construction management, or related technical project supervision.
- Proven success managing teams of technicians and subcontractors on active jobsites.
- Proven track record of completing projects on time and in budget.
- Strong understanding of AVL system components, wiring standards, and installation methodologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings/schematics.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining focus on quality and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Planner, D-Tools or similar project management software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- CTS or CTS-I certification
- PMP certification (or equivalent project management credential).
- Experience with design-build or consultant-driven AVL projects.
- Familiarity with Agile project coordination framework.
- Experience with ProCore and PlanGrid.
