Position Summary
The IT Specialist plays a vital role in supporting CHNO’s technology infrastructure and ensuring that staff and program operations run efficiently and securely. This role is grounded in CHNO’s commitment to dignity, respect, and well-being, and contributes to a trauma-informed, youth-centered environment by maintaining systems that support safety, confidentiality, and collaboration. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a service-oriented mindset, capable of handling a variety of IT needs—from day-to-day troubleshooting to systems maintenance and vendor coordination— with the Covenant House Mission, Principles, and Core Values
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology Support & Infrastructure
- Provide respectful, patient, and professional technical support for staff (hardware, software, networking, printers, etc.) both in person and remotely.
- Monitor, maintain, and update workstations, laptops, and mobile devices to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Maintain and troubleshoot network systems (Wi-Fi, internet, LAN, routers, firewalls, etc.) to support a safe and secure environment.
- Coordinate with external IT vendors and service providers for escalated support or project implementation.
- Ensure data security, user access control, and compliance with IT policies, including proper backups and anti-virus protections.
- Maintain inventory of hardware/software and manage licensing and updates.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees (setting up email accounts, credentials, access) in a manner that respects confidentiality and promotes a welcoming experience.
- Support virtual meeting systems (Zoom, Teams) and audio/visual equipment when needed.
- Document IT processes, troubleshooting guides, and equipment inventory.

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of IT support experience (nonprofit or mission-driven setting preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Windows OS, Office 365, Google Workspace, and basic networking.
- Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting, printers, VoIP systems, and cloud-based platforms.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to support non-technical users with patience and clarity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to the mission of Covenant House and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of individuals.
Preferred:
- CompTIA A , Network , or similar certifications.
- Experience with case management software, CRM, or donor databases.
- Experience working in trauma-informed, youth-centered environments.
