CourtBloom Community, Inc. is a New Hampshire nonprofit providing free youth programming, mentorship, and access to basic needs. We serve children and families through weekly community programs, shared meals with learning built in, and school-day visits across New Hampshire.

About the role
Meredith is CourtBloom's longest weekly session. It's also home to our youth leader program, where older kids learn to guide and support younger ones. As the Meredith Youth Mentor, you work alongside the program lead to run a three-hour after-school block that combines activity, mentorship and shared time together.

Part of this role is mentoring the mentors. You help youth leaders build confidence, follow through on their responsibilities, and lead well. At the same time, you make sure every younger child feels welcome, stays engaged, and wants to come back next week.

The best people in this role read the room. They notice the child sitting alone, the youth leader who needs a nudge, or the energy starting to fade late in a long session, and step in before anyone has to ask. You're there to make the program lead's job easier and every child's experience better. There's a learning curve, but the expectation is that you add value from your first session.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys mentoring as much as activity, and who wants to grow with CourtBloom.

What you'll do

• Arrive before each session to help set up the space and activity stations.
• Greet kids and families by name and help new families get settled.
• Support the program lead with groups of mixed ages through activities, games and transitions.
• Work directly with youth leaders: give them clear jobs, check in with them, and help them lead younger kids.
• Keep energy and structure steady across a three-hour session so kids stay engaged start to finish.
• Support the shared-meal learning time, including reading, word of the day and group discussion.
• Watch for kids who need extra attention and step in before small problems grow.
• Help with cleanup and share notes on how kids and youth leaders are doing.
• Share ideas for strengthening the Meredith program and the youth leader track.

What we expect

• Delivery: show up prepared and make every session better for the kids.
• Reliability: arrive on time for every scheduled session, ready to work.
• One month's notice: tell us about any schedule change at least one month in advance, so we can arrange coverage.

What we're looking for

• Experience working with children or teens, such as teaching, childcare, counseling, camp, youth groups, or as a parent.
• Comfort mentoring older kids and giving them real responsibility.
• Dependable Monday afternoon and evening availability for the full season.
• Patience, energy, and comfort managing a group of kids across a longer session.
• Willingness to complete the required trainings and certifications below.
• Full training provided.

Training and certifications (4 of 6 paid for by CourtBloom)
Before your first day:

• Seizure Training (free online)
• Concussion Training through CDC TRAIN (free online)
• Bloodborne Pathogens through the American Red Cross (CourtBloom-sponsored)
• SafeSport Trained through the U.S. Center for SafeSport (CourtBloom-sponsored)

Within 3 months:

• Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross (CourtBloom-sponsored)
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (CourtBloom-sponsored)

Pay: $23.95 - $28.85 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 per week
