What are the responsibilities and job description for the SWIM SCHOOL TEACHER position at Court and Aquatic Sports Ltd?
The Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC) Swim School is looking for people who LOVE children and enjoy being in the water. We’re proud and passionate for our superhero team who instill in children a lifelong love of swimming, respect for the water, the full spectrum of swimming skills, and prevention of the #1 cause of death in the US, drowning. Never taught a swim lesson before? That’s OK! We train all our teachers our award winning skills progression and aquatic/child development philosophy.
Pre-requisites:
- Schedule consistency (super important to our kiddos), able to work weekends
- LOVES children. Loves watching them learn, play, talk, sing, and get excited. Welcomes the challenge when they cry, fall down, pout, talk back, and struggle with their learning.
- Ability to be on stage (or rather a fishbowl). An AVAC Swim School Teacher is calm, collected, friendly, playful, and professional.
- Extreme patience
- Comfort with talking to a child at eye level with age relevant conversation.
- At home in the water. Able to spend hours in chlorinated water, in a swimsuit, in an out of the pool via stairs, supporting kids of all sizes in shallow and deep water
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED Certificate within 30 days. Ability to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard certificate within 6 months (Shallow Water Lifeguard is acceptable)
- Ability to pass a background check and California’s child care registry, Guardian.
Compensation: $17.55-$20.00 with opportunities for advanced positions.
