Medical Courier F

Courier Express is currently looking for individuals in the Farmington area who are reliable, responsible, and have excellent communication skills to be an integral part of our team. Our ideal applicants will provide prompt, courteous and professional delivery/pickup service to multiple facilities and will also contribute to the Health Systems’ mission of helping people achieve and maintain healthy lives and restoring wellness/health to maximum attainable levels.

Here are the specifics about the positions we currently have available:

Couriers in these positions drive Company vehicles (van, minivan, SUV or similar, as needed) and will be making deliveries and pickups of many different items including, but not limited to: lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, interoffice mail, parcels, boxes, equipment, supplies, laundry and linens.

• $17.00 per hour to start
• Schedules will be 5-10 hour shifts between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.. sometimes varying from one day to the next
• Full & part-time position – some weekend hours
• Some mailroom/inside courier(walking)/parcel delivery/dock or warehouse jobs that will not require much or any driving
• Our vehicles are equipped to handle New England winters appropriately
• These deliveries will include sensitive materials such as confidential names, medications, and addresses that require the upmost care and respect.

CURRENT SCHEDULES AVAILABLE:

FARMINGTON: Full-time - DRIVER - schedule will be Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. until approximately 5:30 p.m.. The actual end of day is when deliveries are complete, some day it will be earlier, others later. This position includes mostly residential deliveries anywhere in central CT.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have clear background and clean driving record
• Drug screening
• Must be vaccinated for CoVID-19 OR be willing to get the vaccination
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
• Must meet all requirements of our insurance carrier
• Must have your own smart-device and be proficient with using apps & GPS
• Have your own Bluetooth device for hands-free calls while driving
• Walking, up to 2 miles per day
• Physically be able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move/push/pull/lift items (sometimes of large and irregularly shaped) weighing up to 50 lbs. (proper equipment is provided for assistance)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operating a company-owned mini-cargo van, SUV or hatchback/sedan and maneuvering into loading or unloading positions
• Delivering to customers in a timely, professional, helpful manner
• Communicating with management/dispatch
• Following route and time schedule, but have flexibility for possible add-on “STAT” pickups
• Keeping vehicle clean and refueled each day
• Reporting vehicle maintenance and mechanical issues
• Working in a fast-paced environment
• Completing inside office pickups and deliveries
• Following all traffic laws and regulations
